I seem to have more and more time lapse between posts....

With my new job taking almost ten hours each out of five days of my week,
I have just been too exhausted to even read emails let alone answer any.

Grandchild number five turned five and I did manage to get her "Initial Pillows"  Z-M-R done...

and attended her party!
Happy Birthday Zoey!

Prior to that I quilted a wallhanging for my friend Kathy which she was making for someone else.

and...

and...

So tomorrow, after errands yesterday and chores today, I will rewad myself with some much deserved sew-time!

Have a great weekend and til next time... Piece out!

wholly moley its been a while...

My new job has taken over my life.

Well maybe not my whole life, but most of the hours in my day!

My Dad was in and out of the hospital and thankfully my sister and brother live near him to be there.

My daughter's car is back on the road now so no more running back and forth with only one car.

And I finished quilting a wallhanging that a friend is making for someone else.

I am so looking forward to really enjoying my Sunday tomorrow with nothing that I "have to do"!!!

Have a great weekend, what is left of it!

Wow!

What a week that has gone by.
The spring dresses for my 5 grand-daughters are all finished and gifted.
(3 grand-sons received store bought shirts and shorts.)
I added yellow flower buttons to make it easier for them to know what was the front when dressing themselves.

My daughter, Courtnie, is home from South Korea.
We spent Sunday morning with coffee on the beach watching the sunrise.
We hosted family dinner Sunday afternoon.
We've shopped.
We've ate.
We've talked quilts and fabric.
She has filled out many job applications and has an interview today at 11:00.
and...
I start my new job Monday morning!

No word yet...on job apps.

But I continue to fill them out.

I do get excited knowing that I am getting more emails asking me to apply than emails rejecting my apps!.

It is difficult to not get too excited sometimes... B-)

I am working on five little spring dresses for g-daughters.

That keeps me busy and focused.

And my daughter arrives home from South Korea this week.

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am sooo excited! (and relieved)

<a href="http://www.bloglovin.com/blog/6059135/?claim=qe5pmsa8d3m">Follow my blog with Bloglovin</a>

It has been one amazing week!

I have been informed my position at work is going away...so I have been filling out job apps like crazy.

My scrap busting efforts have not depleted the scraps much, however I do have something to show for it!

72 "12-Patch Blocks"! Whew!

I have been really busy with stitching up spring dresses for the five grand-daughters. I broke a needle with a piece of it flying at my left eye, forgetting to switch back to straight stitch after changing back to the 1/4" foot. Then I somehow flipped my snips up in the air with my right hand, trying to catch them with my left hand, the very sharp point of one blade coming straight down on my left index finger... The luck of the Irish just wasn't with me Sunday!

It's been "off and on" spring weather, teasing us with wonderfully warm breezy days so I have been down to the beach with the grandkids, for a couple of hours of much needed down time!

...and then I received an offer on a position that I have been trying to get for over a year now!

...and then I won a "Get A Clue With Nancy Drew Bloghop" prize from RosePrairieQuilts' blog!

...AND I sent off my final car payment!!
Woot Woot!

It has been one amazing week!

Rain.

I actually love the rain.

I find it more than just refreshing, washing the dust off of everything, and more of a calming thing...restful, peaceful....and PIECEful!

Growing up in the great NW I can relate to rainy weather and love a good down pour. "Back home" you often get drizzles, which my father always says is just enough to keep you from having a picnic but not enough to keep you from going to work. Yup Yup Gus Gus!

A good day for brainless squaring up of HSTs and listening to the rain.

Nothing like a nice little pile of HST "droppings", right?!?

"Autumn's Hexies" has arrived in Tennessee!

Need. Hot. Coffee.

I set out to use up some scraps...

I was at the sewing machine too, too long yesterday.

My neck and shoulders have informed me not to repeat this anytime soon.
I did not sleep well last night do to overdoing and now I need hot coffee.
So why do I keep getting distracted this morning and I continue to find my coffee has cooled off?!?
Because like potato chips these blocks are addicting!

12-patch blocks staggered one square off!

I am up to a total of 41 blocks.
(Only 16 is this photo)

I am excited about the Nancy Drew Blog Hop coming up this week and I must admit if I knew how to add a link? button? I would.

Ahhhhh....March, march into spring!

I finished Autumn's Hexies on the last day of February, label and all!

The sun is shining although the temp right now will probably be as warm as it is going to get today, chill moving in from the west.

Scraps Scrappy Scrappier...

I have been stressed by many things lately but allowing myself to stress about being over run by scraps just won't do!

So...I have been on a mission to beat these bags of scraps down.

I will succeed!

Pat Sloan has many scrap busting tips.

String quilts are always a great way to do those scraps in.

Which of course leads me to Bonnie Hunter, the Queen of Scrap Elimination, well maybe that doesn't read well...but you know what I mean.

I believe this tute will be the start of my reducing the stash:
String X from Bonnie Hunter

http://quiltville.blogspot.com/2005/06/string-x.html

However I believe her Sister's Choice will be made at the very same time, using lots of 9-patches as leaders and enders.

Hopefully taking photos of Autumn's Hexies today, good chance of no rain!

Enough of February already...

Too much drama for me.

Bomb squads.

Plumbing issues.
(I'll save you the graphics.)

Winter-brrrr-cold weather.

On the upside...(cuz there's always an upside)

 I have my car back,
after the rear end accident in January.

I have almost finished D-G-D's birthday Quilt.

Today I made a big pot of Positively Splendid's 150 calorie veggie soup.

Don't worry. Keep Stitching! Piece out...

I took a day off!
I've been very stressed lately and it felt great!

My friend Ruthie came to visit, We talked. We ate. We stitched. We watched The Decendants.

We shopped for fabric...well...she did.

And on that note, I have to admit...I really enjoy watching other people shop for fabrics for quilting.

There is "that one fabric"...which leads to it's companion and another and another and before you know it they have built a quilt!

She may name it something different, but for now I can't wait to see her "Peacock Soup"...just sayin'.

...and I decided I needed more de-stressing today.

I will be honest.
I hate housework.
I really do.

...and trying to get ready for company, no matter who it is, is always a challenge for me to stay focused on what I am supposed to be doing.
I find fabric.
I find books.
I find more fabric.

...yeah, housework is not getting done.

My daughter will be returning from South Korea soon
and these wall hangings are my gifts for her "bosses".

My friend Resa said she wanted to see some quilting!

February, week one

First I was surprised it was February already and now I can't hardly believe we are one week into the month already. That said I have pretty much lost a whole week with no motivation...after the super bowl win where I had done some stitching Sunday and going down hill from there!

Progress...

...let's see what this weekend will bring,
after I get home from work tomorrow. Piece out!

Update

Wow! How time flies when you're not blogging!
Since my last post I have moved to Wilmington, North Carolina...and much of my stash is still in boxes. B-(

My focus this year is to finish finish finish...
Why?
I am feeling hindered by my UFO's taunting me, while I am wanting to create something new.
I just have to get a handle on my stash and my UFO's to justify allowing my creativity to start new things.
So...I have started organizing by level of completion.
Next I will knock them off the lists starting with the ones closest to completion.
Let's see how this goes!
1st up: Irish Baskets, only needs borders!

"Paisley's Blossoms"

"Paisley's Blossoms"
The latest baby quilt made for Abigail Paisley born 29 June 2011.
